Getting around — from your front door
Everything measured from base: Park Hyatt Shenzhen, Futian CBD — ~10-min walk to Shopping Park Station (Lines 1 & 3), with Convention & Exhibition Center (Lines 1/4) adjacent and an underground link to Futian HSR station (Lines 2/3/11 + 29-min trains to Guangzhou). Line 1 runs the whole tourist spine — Huaqiangbei ↔ OCT ↔ Nanshan. Below: metro vs DiDi for every key stop, the rule for choosing, and how you pay.
The golden rule · metro by default, DiDi when it wins
Default
🚇 Take the metro
- Flat fare of a few ¥, fast, fully AC, no traffic.
- Pay with the Alipay / WeChat "Transport" QR — no card needed.
- Line 1 from Shopping Park covers the tourist spine directly; check Amap for the transfer platform and station exit number — stations are huge.
When it's much better
🚕 Take a DiDi
- When it's much faster, when there's a long walk at either end, or during the hot hours (~11:00–16:00).
- Cheap here — short city hops often ¥15–30; pays via Alipay / WeChat.
- Pre-book the ~22:00 airport run for the last evening (Fri 14 Aug — HU7973 departs 01:50 that night).

Times are estimates door-to-door and shift with traffic and time of day. DiDi costs are rough; metro is a few ¥ flat. Always confirm the live route, transfer and exit on Amap.

💳 How you pay to move
- Metro: open Alipay/WeChat → Transport → scan the QR at the gate. No physical ticket or transit card needed.
- DiDi: book in the DiDi app or inside Alipay/WeChat "Transport"; fare auto-charges to your linked card.
- Foreign cards now link directly to Alipay/WeChat — under ¥200 no cross-border fee; over ¥200 ~3%.
- Cash backup: carry some RMB for the rare cash-only case; foreign cards work at few POS/ATMs.
- High-speed rail (Guangzhou day trip): book on 12306 / Trip.com with passport; board with passport at Futian Station — linked to the hotel underground.
