ℹ️ Dispatchers usually speak Mandarin only. For English help, call the 12301 tourist hotline or ask your hotel front desk to interpret. Note: China has no single 911/112 — dial the specific number. All are free from any phone.

Quick safety notes

  • Your phone is your wallet, keys and map — guard it, keep it charged (carry a power bank), and screenshot key info in case data drops.
  • Carry a passport photocopy (or photo) for daily use; keep the real passport in the room safe except when you need it (entry/SIM/check-in).
  • Heat is the real risk — ~32°C / ~82% humidity. Hydrate, dodge 11:00–16:00 sun, know that 药店 (pharmacy) sell rehydration salts.
  • Typhoon season — if a signal is raised, stay in, follow hotel guidance, and switch to an indoor day (museums/malls).
  • Crime is low, but watch for phone-snatching in crowds and only use licensed taxis or DiDi.
