Health & care — cheap, fast, here
Shenzhen is one of the best places on earth for two of these: prescription glasses (it's a global eyewear hub — same-day, a fraction of EU prices) and a quick full health check-up. Add an easy dental clean and a TCM session for the experience. Everything below is filtered for what actually fits an 8-day trip and points to English-friendly places. Not medical advice — confirm details with each clinic.

Plan & cautions
⬚ How it fits your week
- Glasses — Day 3 (Luohu): the optical mall is in the same Lo Wu building as the tailoring. Do eye exam + frames there while measurements are taken — collect both before you fly. Get a spare pair, prescription sunglasses, anti-blue-light / progressives.
- Health check-up — any free morning: book HKU–Shenzhen Hospital (English, on Line 9). It's a ~4-hour morning; bilingual report follows in 1–3 days (can email).
- Dental clean — a spare 1–2 hours near base in Futian. Quick and cheap.
- TCM session pairs naturally with a Spa afternoon or a recovery evening.
⚠️ Read first
- Skip implants & crowns — far cheaper than the EU, but they need multiple visits over months, so they don't fit 8 days. Cleaning / whitening / a filling only.
- Bring your current glasses prescription (or get the free exam) and any medical records you'd want a check-up read against.
- Book English-confirmed places or lean on the translator app; plan any follow-up/aftercare back in Italy.
- TCM is a great cultural/relaxation experience (tuina especially) — but its medical claims aren't well supported by Western evidence; treat it as wellness, not treatment.
- Pay via Alipay/WeChat; keep receipts for any insurance claim.
